Queer Youth Initiative Work Continues

This week we are lucky to have a guest blog from Seth Kirby, director of Oasis Youth Center in Tacoma, WA, a participant in our Queer Youth Initiative and a Pride Foundation board member. Seth updates us on the work the group did this weekend in Kennewick, WA.

Raffle Winners Announced!

Over 2,900 people from all over the world entered this year’s Raffle With A Twist, telling us what nonprofit they thought should receive $2,500 from Pride Foundation.  So many great and deserving groups were nominated. Here are the winners for this year’s Raffle:

Grand Prize of $2,500-randomly drawn from all the entries was Planned Parenthood of the Inland Northwest

Each of the following groups were the most named in their state and will each receive $1,000

Change in Fall ‘09 Northwest Grant Cycle

See July 16 update below

In response to the effects of the current economy, we are temporarily changing our grants awards process and priorities for our Northwest Grants cycle. Instead of a general call for proposals, organizations will be invited to apply to this cycle based on 5 criteria: (1) LGBTQ focused organizations; (2) demonstrated history of service to and effective impact on the community; (3) organizational and financial stability; (4) prior funding relationship with Pride Foundation; and (5) the likeliness that a grant will have a potentially significant impact on the core operations of the organization. Invited organizations will be contacted by July 15.

We believe this is the best way to steward our donor’s...
