Washington State Unitarian Universalist Voices for Justice presents: The American Foundation for Equal Rights and Broadway Impact’s 8
by Dustin Lance Black

Washington Unitarian Universalist Voices for Justice presents a staged reading of “8”, the acclaimed play chronicling the historic trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California’s Proposition 8.

“8,” by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, is a compelling account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger, the case filed to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the fundamental freedom to marry.

“8″ is based on actual words from trial transcripts, first-hand observations of the courtroom drama, and interviews with the plaintiffs and their families.

Nearly two dozen well-known Western Washington actors make up the play’s cast, directed by Brian Tyrrell.

Following the performance, join marriage equality advocates for a Q&A about Washington’s Referendum 74.

Tickets:  $10; purchase at   https://tickets.washingtoncenter.org/Online/
