Over the last 5 years Wakefield has been happily missing money out of his paycheck from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where he engages communities of color in the search for an HIV vaccine. The money goes directly to Pride Foundation, as a tax-deductible contribution. “Together it all adds up to be a larger donation than I could make if I wrote a check at the end of the year,” Wakefield reports “It is so easy. I made a decision about how much I wanted to give and then if just comes out of my check every month.” Wakefield is just one of the hundreds of people who give to Pride Foundation via automatic payroll deductions in their workplace.
