Pride Foundation is a regional community foundation that inspires giving to expand opportunities and advance full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people across the Northwest.
We invest in organizations, students, and leaders in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington—transforming individual acts of courage into a unified movement for change.
Leveraging generous support from thousands of donors and volunteers, we provide the support that local visionaries need to effect change in their communities: grant dollars, scholarships, fellowships, technical expertise, convenings, and leadership development.
Building a Foundation for All
Established in 1985, Pride Foundation’s visionary founders devoted the agency solely to raising and managing substantial funds to address the growing challenges facing the community, not the least of which was the new and frightening prospect of HIV & AIDS.
At that time, the dedication and determination of the LGBTQ community was evident in the many organizations providing direct services, but too often larger donations and bequests from LGBTQ individuals were gifted outside of the community to groups considered more financially sophisticated.
Pride Foundation’s answer was to build a public regional foundation for our community and to create an endowment that would be prudently managed and professionally administered—a place where supporters of LGBTQ equality could confidently make an investment in a brighter future.
A Legacy Built Together
Today, donors and volunteers have helped Pride Foundation invest more than $72 million to build organizations, support students, and connect leaders in our five-state region.
Our expansive, and growing, network of grantees, community partners, allies, donors, and staff throughout the region enable us to respond whenever and wherever issues affecting the LGBTQ community arise.
As a result, we have a nuanced understanding of the challenges and obstacles facing LGBTQ people and are able to make smart investments where they are most needed.
Our work addresses existing and emerging community needs in urban, rural, and remote communities throughout the Northwest.
Together, we are working to ensure that all LGBTQ people are able to be who they are, where they are. We hope you’ll join us.
