Our Programs - Grants - Overview
Since 1987, Pride Foundation has granted over $7.2 million to organizations helping the Northwest’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. Grants are made in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington to 501c(3) nonprofit organizations (or nonprofits with a 501(c) 3 fiscal sponsor) in the following categories: Arts and Recreation; Education Advocacy, and Outreach; Health and Community Service; HIV/AIDS Service Delivery and Prevention; Lesbian Health; Youth and Family Services.
If you are an organization seeking a grant, please read our Grant Guidelines.
There are three types of grants available to organizations:
- Northwest Grants are funded through the Seattle office for organizations via two cycles a year- one in the fall and one in spring. Pride Foundation is transitioning its granting to a decentralized model to allow more local community input for grants decision-making. Check the chart here to verify whether your project is eligible for this application.
- Regional Community Grants are funded by our Pride Regional Communities (PRCs). Each community raises money and then makes grants through a local volunteer committee. The funds that are raised for distribution are matched from the Seattle office. Find out which Regional Communities are currently funding here .
- Special Grants are made each year by Pride Foundation based on community need. The Advocacy Fund was created in 2006 to respond to equality issues facing the LGBT community in the Pacific Northwest. Special grant cycles will be announced via our email announcements and posted on this web site when available. We also make yearly special grants, such as the Ted Lord Allied Grant, named for our former executive director and given to a straight ally organization that has worked for LGBT equality and visibility.
