Our Programs - Pride Regional Communities
Realizing that LGBT people living in different areas face unique challenges, Pride Foundation began our Regional Community Organizing which brings resources and visibility to LGBT people and organizations all over our region. The challenges faced by LGBT people in rural areas are vastly different than those living in large urban centers. Pride Foundation's community organizing recognizes that people who live in any given area are the experts about the needs of their community and puts the decision making in their hands.
Launched in 1997, the program has grown to eleven communities in Washington, Oregon, Montanta and Idaho. We use philanthropy and leadership development to build community and strengthen regional resources. A local volunteer steering committee identifies community needs and an annual fundraising goal is determined to address those needs. All funds raised in the community stay in that community and are matched by Pride Foundation. Next, a granting process awards funds to local nonprofit organizations.
