Marriage Equality: Heading Down the Aisleon February 7th, 2012 at 11:11 am
We’re still basking in the glow of last week’s State Senate vote on the marriage equality bill. The success of the Senate vote was critical in moving the bill forward. Staff and volunteers from many Washington United for Marriage coalition members, including the Pride Foundation team, watched from the Senate Gallery as history unfolded with the bill’s passage in the Senate by 28-21 votes.
Marriage equality is an important hallmark of LGBTQ equality, both for loving and committed couples, and for helping to bring attention to other issues in our community. In the coming months there will be many opportunities to engage the campaign – particularly as the opposition campaign begins to gain strength.
In the coming weeks there are several ways for you to get involved:
- Show your support in Olympia at the House debate and vote this Wednesday.
- Make a contribution to The Advocacy Fund at Pride Foundation or directly to the Washington United for Marriage Campaign.
- Contact your legislators to thank them for their support and/or tell them why you support marriage equality.
