Ben Bakkenta, Secretary
Ben is an urban planner, specializing in long-range land use and transportation planning, regional growth management policy, and intergovernmental affairs. Currently, he manages initiatives designed to implement the Puget Sound region’s adopted long range transportation plans through public engagement, research, analysis, and collaborative decision making at Puget Sound Regional Council.
Ben moved to Seattle to indulge in the tail end of the grunge scene, fully intending to return to the San Francisco Bay Area. After meeting his husband Eric, a Seattle native, he decided to make it permanent. Ben loves travel, politics, and urban design, and finds that these days he spends most of his free time on the sidelines of kids’ soccer games. Ben and Eric live with their kids, Christian and Elizabeth, in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Ben was initially attracted to Pride Foundation by the critical support that it provides to community-based organizations serving the LGBTQ community. He began as a volunteer and donor but wanted to get involved in a more direct way, joining the Board in 2011.
