Volunteers Needed for Pride Foundation 2017 Scholarship Review

RSVP through our volunteer application system

Each year, a team of 300 dedicated Pride Foundation volunteers throughout the Northwest review more than 1500 scholarship applications.

With over 50 different scholarships, the Pride Foundation scholarship program is open to all students who meet Pride Foundation’s fundamental criteria of LGBTQ leadership and state residency.

We are looking for interested volunteers to help review applications evaluate applicants. The full 2017 scholarship review cycle takes place between January 23, 2017 and April 8, 2017 and volunteers are instrumental in all aspects of the review process.

Overview of Volunteer Opportunities

Phase 1 (Jan. 23 through Feb. 18) is our Community Scholarship Review:

  • Read, evaluate, and recommend approximately 20 applications as part of a team.
  • Approximately 22 total volunteer hours are needed, including one team meeting.

Phase 2 (Feb. 20 through March 18) is our Donor Funded Scholarship Review:

  • Read, evaluate, and recommend approximately 20 applications as part of a team.
  • Additionally, in early April, volunteers may also be interviewing candidates as part of a team for specific scholarships.

RSVP through our volunteer application system

We require that all interested volunteers, new and returning, RSVP by January 16, 2017

  • Returning volunteers will find their previous year’s information for editing.
  • For families, each member should complete their own application using a distinct email address.

Participate in one online volunteer orientation session

  • Each year new scholarships are added, new application questions are developed, and online technology changes, which is why we require all volunteers to attend an orientation session.
  • All orientations are about one hour long and will be held online with several different options for days and times from early-January through mid-February.

If you have particular interests or professional areas of expertise, we encourage you to review our Scholarship Funds list to determine if serving on a specific scholarship committee would be beneficial. If you feel there is a good match, please let us know in the Volunteer Application, and we will do our best to pair you with that scholarship.

In addition to this year’s growing pool of applicants, we are excited to introduce Elaine Agoot, Pride Foundation’s new Program and Volunteer Coordinator. Elaine brings a strong background in volunteer coordination, team building, facilitation, and will be helping to lead our amazing volunteers through the 2017 scholarship review process. Please join us in welcoming Elaine to the Pride Foundation family and if you join our scholarship review team you will have the opportunity to work with Elaine.

For additional information about the scholarship program, contact Craig Williams, Office Manager, by phone at 206-323-3318 or via email at scholarships@pridefoundation.org.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and help. We cannot do this without you!
